Artside the box

2016, gallery 12-14 Contemporary in Vienna The sculpture installation at the 12-14 Contemporary Gallery in Vienna was part of a program through which I obtained an artistic residency. It was a collaboration with an interesting gallery, which was established as a sort of artist association and is very open to new challenges in artistic expression. The curator of my presentation was Vasja Nagy, who collaborates with several contemporary galleries in Vienna. Denis Parizek, who led the gallery and assisted the artistic association with organizational and curatorial tasks, was also involved in the curation. The presentation included smaller sculptures designed to be held in the hands. Specifically, certain sides of the "box-like" forms were made with foils coated in thermochromic paint, which becomes almost transparent at a specific temperature (30 degrees). With the visitors' body temperature, as they warmed these sides with their hands, the surface changed, allowing them to see the small sculptures inside these box-like minimalist forms.
