Od…pri

Location
Ljubljana, Galerija Equrna
Year
2011

Equrna Gallery, 5 July to 27 July 2011 (a continuation of the project from Škofja Loka, 2006).

The exhibition Od…pri is arranged across the gallery's first and second rooms so that its content follows our own passage through it. In the first part, bronze sculptures stand at very different heights — some close to our horizon and therefore "pri" (near) us, others well above it and therefore withdrawn "od" (away from) us.

Some of these sculptures are placed within hand casts: two child figures, one of which settles into the cast while the other rises past it. The third figure on a hand cast is a pregnant woman, the fourth a sleeping adult. Two sculptures nearer our own horizon are connected with birth — one emerges from a kind of vessel, the other from a spiralling band. This unusual, dynamically arranged "colonnade" is set so that we pass through it as through the colonnade of a Greek temple, into the main body of the exhibition.

In the large room, white plinths are arranged in two straight rows along the walls, with nothing on them.
