A bronze bird rests on white stone that tapers upward to a narrow face, barely wide enough to hold it. Parallel lines are cut into the foot of the stone, running downward like feathers.
A piece for a table or a shelf: small, but heavy enough to be noticed.
From the Bird day series, cast in bronze as a unique cast — not taken from a master model: each sculpture is modelled separately in wax and cast by the lost-wax process. Signed J.K. 26 on the bronze. The marble base is made individually for every sculpture in the series: soft stone forms, close to the rounded tools of the neolithic, but worked so that traces of rough chiselling, or the marks of modern stone-cutting tools, are sometimes left visible.
