DNA izročilo

The exhibition at Insula Gallery in Izola was divided into two spaces. In the first room, there were traditional gallery pedestals for sculptures, which at first glance appeared to be without any sculptures. They had barely visible drawers and openings that could be opened or looked through to see the interior of the pedestal itself. There, visitors encountered smaller sculptural works related to the intimacy of fatherhood, motherhood, and family. In the second room, the sculpture "Pregnant Diotima" was exhibited, opposite to it stood the sculpture "Prophetesses." Already in the first part of the gallery, the intimate sculptural depictions of childhood and parenthood revealed the relationship to genetics through certain materials, such as gels used for DNA analysis. In the second part, both sculptural works were directly connected, both in terms of material and conceptual design, to an exploration of genetic foundations and genetic inheritance inherited from parents. In the era of the possibility of genetic material recombination, this inheritance has become something that can be significantly altered.
