Matrix: Hidden — the double helix

Year
2026
Materials
concrete, copper wire

Exhibited at: Matrix: Hidden (2026)

One of a hundred concrete sculptures from the exhibition Matrix: Hidden. Each is an original and not a copy: at the bottom it has an engraved number from 1 to 100 and the artist's signature.

In ninety-nine of them, a double helix of copper wire is hidden, approximately two meters long — as long as the total length of the genome in each of our cells. In just one, the helix is made of gold; nobody knows which one.

The second photograph shows the entire installation from which the sculpture comes.
This work recently reached international attention after a post about it was viewed nearly 1 million times online (https://www.reddit.com/r/Sculpture/comments/1vmfkvn/found_my_father_cast_100_of_these_in_concrete_two/)
