Jiři Kočica is an academic sculptor, a university professor at the University of Primorska, and an author whose practice weaves together sculpture, conceptual thought and literature. His work explores the meeting point between the enduring weight of natural materials — bronze and stone — and human impulses, inheritance, and the ethics of relationship. Through sculpture and participatory projects, often bound to the specificity of a place, he makes art as a direct contemplation of being and of the conditions of human existence.

Art for me is not a static object, but an ethical act of relation—a threshold where the monumental and the momental meet. I hold art to be the axis of culture: the ground for upholding that foundation which alone makes an awareness of ourselves as co-beings of Being possible at all.
